We provide not just shelter and housing know-how but also friendship. Together with our partner churches, we provide direct support to people. Often these people have no other support network. Our Hope into Action homes in Suffolk have provided a springboard for people in recovery from addiction, people who had been sleeping rough or in emergency accommodation, those suffering with mental health issues and those escaping abuse. Dr Rowan Williams, former Archbishop of Canterbury, says this about the work of Hope into Action: “What I really admire about Hope into Action is that is has a holistic depth to it. Hope into Action allows people in our churches to recognise they can actually do something”. Watching church volunteers make a difference is a joy to witness. Working with churches to make people feel safe and welcomed is a blessing. Obviously there are challenges – but our staff work with the church volunteers putting all our learning in practice. Hope into Action transforms the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
